Saietta is a well-established British R&D company on a mission to accelerate the market introduction of highly innovative, affordable, and reliable propulsion motors for a broad range of electric vehicles (EVs) from scooters to buses. The product is proven, and market pull is strong. Since 2016 Saietta has undertaken rigorous R&D and testing for an innovative, unique motor topology, with low-cost raw materials, designed for low-cost, automated assembly. Saietta is now evolving from a pure R&D company into one that also manufactures its own motors in a new European production plant.

Saietta has offices within Oxfordshire, Northants, Sunderland and in the Netherlands.

This is a new role that has been created for an experienced and proven business development professional to join our thriving electric drive technology company based at Silverstone, Northants.

This position will involve leading and developing a small team involved with sales and business development activities across the UK, Europe and into Asia. It will also involve hands-on input to the identification and conversion of new clients, and the development of existing business relationships.

Saietta is involved with the design, development, and manufacture of complex electric drive systems for the electric vehicle domain (automotive and marine) but also provides consultative engineering services (vehicle simulation, prototype vehicle development etc.)

Target markets are predominantly2, 3 and 4-wheel vehicles, last-mile delivery and light commercial vehicles. Experience of such sectors would be an advantage.

General requirements and background needed:

  • Extensive sales and business development experience gained within the automotive or electric propulsion domains with proven ability to identify, open and develop new business relationships and accounts.
  • A technical background. Ideally a degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., electrical / electronic engineering, automotive engineering, mechanical engineering or similar).
  • Demonstrable experience of capturing customer technical product / system requirements and understanding market needs (market intelligence, market forces, competitor analysis, developing new market segments, etc).
  • Experience of consultative and solution focused sales / business development. This is not an off-the-shelf product sales role.
  • Strong leadership skills; able to lead, grow and develop a small team of sales and business development professionals
  • A strong team player with experience of interacting at director / board level is required

Technology Sector knowledge:

  • Good knowledge and ideally hands-on experience of electric vehicle technologies (e.g., full electric vehicle / xEV platforms and components.)
  • The role may suit a business development manager that has worked within component development sectors such as the full electric drive unit (EDU), batteries, inverters / power electronics, electric motors, etc.
  • Hands-on engineering experience gained within automotive or electric vehicle platforms would be highly desirable.

The Head of Business development will be based out of the Silverstone office. The role would be office based and will require some travel. In time this may change as the role and team evolves.

This is a new position within the business, the scope, and responsibilities of which will no doubt evolve in time. Meaning there are great career opportunities for the right candidate.·
