Prototype Assembly Technician - Electric Motors

REPORTING TO: Production Team Leader

JOB TYPE: Full-time

LOCATION: Upper Heyford, Bicester (Moving to Silverstone around December in 2022)

 

This is an exciting time to be joining our expanding electric vehicle technology company. This position would be based at our facility in Upper Heyford, near Bicester, but will move to our new facility in Silverstone around the end of this year. We are looking to recruit multiple prototype build technicians to support the assembly of our complex electric motors for the EV industry.

  • You will need good practical skills and ideally experience of complex engineered products involving numerous electromechanical components and assemblies
  • You will need good levels of dexterity and have a versatile range of practical skills coupled with the willingness to learn and be trained in new techniques
  • The ability to build basic wiring looms or solder would be very useful
  • The ability to use bench top test equipment could be handy

 

More – Motor Build / Production Assembly Technician

  • The role will involve working in the prototype production facility supporting the build, assembly and test of both prototype electric motors as we develop them for volume production.
  • The ideal candidate would be a versatile Build Technician / Assembly Technician / Production Technician with demonstrable practical mechanical skills. Experience of building and assembling motors would be preferred but generally other precision electromechanical assemblies would be fine.

 

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • You will need good practical skills and ideally experience of complex engineered products involving numerous electromechanical components and assemblies
  • You will need good levels of dexterity and have a versatile range of practical skills coupled with the willingness to learn and be trained in new techniques
  • The ability to build basic wiring looms or solder would be very useful
  • The ability to use bench top test equipment could be handy
  • Practical mechanical, build and assembly skills working on complex electromechanical systems, high precision mechanisms, wiring harness etc (e.g. electric motors, variable speed drives, gearboxes, transmissions, pneumatic / hydraulic systems, robotics, test equipment, automated test systems / machines.)

More useful skills and attributes:

  • A methodical approach to tasks, with a good eye for detail
  • The ability to understand and work from engineering drawings
  • Be a good problem solver, with the ability to proactively provide alternative solutions
  • Flexibility to adapt to different tasks and problems seamlessly
  • A recognised qualification, such as an HNC, HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering, would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Soldering and basic electrical testing

 

Location: Initially the role will be based at the facilities at Upper Heyford (Oxfordshire) but it is expected that the production will move to Silverstone by August 2022.
